"Teri aankhon ki namkeen mastiyaan
teri hansi ki beparwaah gustakhiyaan
teri zulfon ki lehrati angdaiyaan
nahi bhoolunga main
jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan

tera haath se haath chhodna
tera saayon se rukh modna
tera palat ke phir na dekhna
nahin maaf karunga main,
jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan..

baarishon mein bedhadak tere naachne se
baat baat pe bewajah tere roothne se,
chhoti chhoti teri bachkani badmashiyon se,
mohabbat karunga main
Jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan..

Tere jhoothe kasme vaadon se,
tere jalte sulagte khwabon se,
teri beraham duaon se,
nafrat karunga main,
Jab tak hai jaan, jab tak hai jaan.."

Aankhon main raha dil mein utar kar nahi dekha
Kashti ke musafir ne samandar nahi dekha !!

Be waqt agar jaun ga sab chaunk paren ge
ik umar hui kabhi din mein ghar nahi dekha

Jis din se chala hun meri manzil pe nazar hai
aankhon ne kabhi meel ka pathar nahi dekha

yaaron ki mohabbat ka yaqeen kar lia main ne
phoolon mein chupaya huwa khanjar nahi dekha

mehboob ka ghar ho keh buzurgon ki zameeneN
jo chor dia phir usse mur kar nahi dekha

Pathar mujha kehta hai mera chahne wala
Main mom hun us ne mujhe chu kar nahi dekha

Wo mere masaail ko samajh hi nahi sakta
jis ne meri aankh mein samandar nahi dekha....

I think i need a new label named “Ghazals

Poetry and lyrics…..

I wonder if any other singer would have ever conveyed the pain of the lyrics so beautifully……

The only other example i can think of is this one.

If you have ever been to ghazal concerts,you will see people asking for select famous songs of the singer,  mostly because that's what they have heard, more because of the catchier tunes, melody rather than the entire package, more importantly the lyrics. So, they end up missing out on some of the better, but not so well known songs. They are the ones that connect to your lives more often than not, putting together in a simple lucid form the deepest thoughts in our minds….(like the first song posted above).

Its a special talent, conveying something that most people find difficult to convey. Its not lyrics actually.

Aavaz de rahi hai meri zindgi mujhe
Jaau ya na jaau tujhe dekhne ke baad

Kaabe ka ehteram bhi meri nazar mein hai,
Sar kis taraf jhukau, tujhe dekhne ke baad.

Teri nigaah-e-mast ne makhmoor kar diya,
Kya maikade ko jao, tujhe dekhne ke baad.

Nazron mein taab-e-deed hi baki nahin rahi,
Kis se nazar milau, tujhe dekhne ke baad.

(Let it be anguish, come still to torment my heart

pehlay say maraasim na sahi phir bhi kabhi to
rasm-o-rahay duniya hi nibhaanay kay liyay aa

(If not for our past association

Come to fulfill the rituals of the world)

kis kis ko bataayengay judaai kaa sabab ham
tu mujh se khafaa hai to zamaanay kay liyay aa

(Who else must I explain the reason of separation

Come, despite your displeasure, to continue the ceremony)

kuchh to meri pindaar-e-mohabbat ka bharam rakh
tu bhi to kabhi mujh ko manaanay kay liyay aa

(Respect a little the depth of my love for you

Come someday to placate me as well)

ek umr say hun lazzat-e-giryaa se bhi mehruum
aye raahat-e-jaan mujh ko rulaanay kay liyay aa

(Too long have I been deprived of the pathos of longing

Come my love, if only to make me weep again)

ab tak dil-e-khush_feham ko tujh say hain ummeedain
ye aakhari shammain bhi bujhaanay kay liyay aa

(Till now, my heart suffers from some expectation

Come to snuff even these last candles of hope)

& people dont like ghazals....

मंजिल न दे चराग न दे, होसला तो दे, तिनके के का ही सही तू मगर आसरा तो दे.
मैंने ये कब कहा के मेरे हक मी हो जवाब,लेकिन खामोश क्यों हे तूं कोई फैसला तो दे.
बरसों में तेरे नाम पर खाता रह फरेब,मेरे खुदा कहाँ है तूं अपना पता तो दे.
बेशक मेरे नसीब पर रख अपना इख्तियार,लेकिन मेरे नसीब मैं क्या है बता तो दे।
